To whom it may concern,
I am a Transgender woman and am trying to change my birth certificate to reflect who I really am. I have met my true life partner and if he asks me to marry him I will but I have to do something about my birth certificate first.
I have tried asking the registrar to correct the mistake as I found out about the right of citizens to change legal documents when mistakes have been made.
Apparently I can change my birth certificate but the government is demanding documents from around the time of birth which show my ‘legal sex’ they also tell me any corrected mistake will still be shown in the margin of a new birth certificate. I think they may have recently made that one up since I started pestering them.
I am currently unemployed and have to use my birth certificate as proof of the right to work and given the increased threat of violence and hate towards Trans people I would rather not have my past disclosed. Apart from that, employers may not want to hire me as it could end in unforeseen trouble for them in MSM.
I wrote that ages ago but can’t remember who I meant to send it too. I might have included it in a survey of some sort.
I have a little blog and have published the emails to and from the registrar at https://www.pollyanne.net/personal-bio/oh-dear-what-have-i-started/
I feel I am banging my head against a brick wall and am at a loss now.
If I can be of any use to you in your own research or in any other way I would be happy to help.
I am considering starting a petition or writing articles about the subject of Human Rights and misinformation/bigotry because I see Human Rights as the very bedrock of civilisation and democracy. I also see the Government and Loyal opposition attacking and failing to protect the rights of both LGBTQ+ people by singling out Transgender women and promoting misinformation/propaganda sourced from hate groups and attacking BAME minorities in a similar way by attacking refugees of all people. There will be state sponsored violence against both immigrants and all BAME minorities and Trans women and all LGBTQ+ people as a result of MSM but particularly government rhetoric and actions
